| THE TECHNOLOGY SERVICES DEPARTMENT provides comprehensive, agency-wide Information Technology (IT) management. Services include network implementation, software and Web site development, computer and phone maintenance, consulting, and project management for COG departments and by contract to other agencies.
· Proactive System Management. Technology Services monitors and reports on technology trends to both internal forums and in quarterly meetings with regional IT staff. Using a video conferencing system designed and maintained by the department, COG staff and other agencies on the coast can fully participate in these discussions.
· Technical Support for Regional Communities. Technology Services also extends its networking expertise to smaller communities that cannot afford the high cost of network support. Through Cascades West Technology Institute, Technology Services provides custom training programs for network management and certification.
· National Initiatives. On a national level, software developed in Technology Services aids in advocacy with its First Advocate Web-based application. In addition, to help with scheduling and organizing small conferences and retreats, Technology Services provides a Web-based meeting management application, First Conferee, which is used by Oregon State University and others. |
