Economic Development
Cascades West Economic Development District (CWEDD) CWCOG manages the federally-designated Economic Development District for Linn, Benton, Lincoln, and Lane Counties. We develop and implement the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, advocate for economic development needs, and coordinate a network of economic development partners. We also develop projects and seek funding for them. Highlights of our activities can be found at: 2009-10 Economic Development Report.
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Regional information, issues and opportunities, and activities to improve the economy are reported in 2010-2015 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy - Click HERE to view the document recommended by the Economic Committees to the CWCOG, LCOG, and Cascades West Economic Development District Boards.
Economic Development Network The CED Committee serves as a regional forum, frames economic development priorities, and assists in implementation. Regional economic development leads and key contacts for common business development-related queries are published in the Business Referral Network.
Regional Industrial Wetlands/Wetlands Mitigation Potential wetlands lay on all vacant industrial zoned land in Linn & Benton Counties. An impact Analysis identified that time and cost unknowns related to wetland mitigation were an impediment to siting industry. Eight communities and the State collaborated on CWCOG's effort to clarify regional demand for industrial land and how to address potential wetlands on those lands. The team is now pursuing a regional permit and evaluating mitigation banking strategies.
