Transportation System Improvement
CWCOG provides both direct services and support to other entities to improve the transportation system within our region. CWCOG also undertakes transportation studies and projects on behalf of our members.
The Cascades West Area Commission on Transportation (CWACT) CWACT is a committee of the Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments, is chartered by the Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) as an advisory body. The CWACT provides a forum for local governments to communicate and collaborate on local, regional, and state transportation issues. In addition to advising the CWCOG Board on transportation matters, the CWACT is a vehicle for the OTC to communicate with the region and obtain regional input, advice, and recommendations to ODOT and the OTC.
Cascades West Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Program TDM helps public and private employers implement commuter benefit programs, it informs and educates the public about transportation options, and advocates for the development and use of a wide variety of transportation options. Cascades West Rideshare provides a free carpool matching service. Valley VanPool helps match and organize commuter vanpools.
Cascades West RideLine Cascades West Ride Line's objective is to coordinate transportation services for eligible Oregon Healh Plan (OHP) and Medicaid clients traveling to and from covered non-emergency medical services. Transportation is provided to those eligible clients living in Lincoln, Benton and Linn Counties who have no other way to get to their medical services. Transportation is arranged through locally contracted transportation providers.
Corvallis Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO): CAMPO is the designated Metrapolitan Planning Organization for the cities of Corvallis, Philomath, and Adair Village, as well as parts of Benton County. CAMPO's transportation planning and programming activies are directed by an independent Policy Board made up of representatives of the above-mentioned jurisdictions and the Oreogn Department of Transportation (ODOT). CWCOG provides administrative support to the Corvallis Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. CAMPO's cooperative planning process accesses federal funds for transportation projects.
