OCWCOG Held Legislative Round Table

Panel Includes State Senators and Representatives to Focus on Issues Important to Seniors and Persons with Disabilities

The Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments (OCWCOG), in collaboration with the Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities, held its Senior and Disabilities Services’ Legislative Round Table, featuring Senator Sara Gelser, Representative Andy Olson, and Representative Sherrie Sprenger, on Thursday, January 28, 2016. The Round Table was a forum for legislators, advocates, community partners, and stakeholders to come together and discuss the future of services and supports for seniors and people with disabilities in Benton, Lincoln, and Linn Counties. Legislators discussed their outlook for the 2017-2019 budget, specifically for aging and people with disabilities within the Oregon Department of Human Services, as well as their perspective on programs of interest to the most vulnerable Oregonians.

“OCWCOG was honored to bring together Legislators to talk about issues of importance to our most susceptible population,” said The Honorable Sharon Konopa, Mayor, City of Albany, and Chair, OCWCOG, who moderated the event. “In doing so, attendees heard from all sides on these critical issues and discussed items most pressing to them, including rural transportation, and how health and transportation are linked.”
