Bikeshare Plan

We are planning a new bikeshare system for Corvallis, and we want to hear from you!

In 2016, Pedal Corvallis was launched as a pilot project to see if bikeshare would be a useful transportation option for the Corvallis community. An average of 400 trips a month were taken over the four years the system was operating, demonstrating that bikeshare is an important component of the Corvallis transportation system. While some aspects of the system worked well, there were other parts that could benefit from improvement. When our vendor closed the system in March 2020, it provided the opportunity to reevaluate and redesign a system that works for more people and helps achieve more of Corvallis’s community goals.

Community input is critical to a successful bikeshare system, and there will be multiple opportunities to engage with this project. This website will be kept up to date with information about the current engagement step and overall project progress. Additional information about the project steps can be found in the Statement of Work.

Project Timeline

We know Corvallis is a regional hub for education, jobs, and entertainment, so we encourage residents of neighboring communities to engage in this process. With an eye toward the future, we are considering the potential for expansions to neighboring towns in our design process as well.

Pedal BikesCurrent Public Engagement Steps

We are currently holding focus groups to answer in-depth questions about community needs. Staff are coordinating with local partners, but if you have recommendations for groups we should work with, contact Nick Meltzer, or 541-758-1911.
