We are planning a new bikeshare system for Corvallis, and we want to hear from you!
In 2016, Pedal Corvallis was launched as a pilot project to see if bikeshare would be a useful transportation option for the Corvallis community. An average of 400 trips a month were taken over the four years the system was operating, demonstrating that bikeshare is an important component of the Corvallis transportation system. While some aspects of the system worked well, there were other parts that could benefit from improvement. When our vendor closed the system this March, it provided the opportunity to reevaluate and redesign a system that works for more people and helps achieve more of Corvallis’s community goals.
Community input is critical to a successful bikeshare system, and there will be multiple opportunities to engage with this project. This website will be kept up to date with information about the current engagement step and overall project progress. Additional information about the project steps can be found in the Statement of Work.
Our current timeline aims to launch a new bikeshare program in late September or early October 2021.
We know Corvallis is a regional hub for education, jobs, and entertainment, so we encourage residents of neighboring communities to provide input. With an eye toward the future, we are considering the potential for expansions to neighboring towns in our design process as well.
Focus groups will be conducted through February 2021.
Funding for this planning effort was provided by the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Transportation Options Program and the Corvallis Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. The project is a partnership between Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments and the City of Corvallis.
