OCWCOG is pleased to announce the promotion of Nick Meltzer to Transportation Programs Manager. He was formally the lead staff for the Corvallis Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), a position he held for 18 months prior to his new role.
“The time for a regional manager of transportation programs could not be better. With both population and employment expected to grow in our Region, this role will allow OCWCOG to be a leader in addressing regional transportation issues both with and for our members,” said Phil Warnock, Community and Economic Development Director. Transportation is the vital link between housing, employment, health and economic prosperity.
Mr. Meltzer brings over ten years of transportation planning and engineering experience to his position. As a licensed civil engineer with a master’s degree in community and regional planning, his knowledge of the transportation sector is vast. His ability to build capacity and address challenges through relationship building has proven valuable throughout his career. As an engineer in Vermont, he led the design and construction of both a new slope stabilization technology, as well as the first buffered bicycle lanes on state highways. During his time in Oregon, he’s been involved with parking studies, road diet evaluations, and the recent transit projects OCWCOG is pursuing.
“I’m excited to share my passion for safe streets and livable communities across the Region,” Mr. Meltzer said. “I look forward to hearing from our members about how we can help with their transportation challenges.”
Mr. Meltzer will be overseeing the Albany Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO), CAMPO, Cascades West Area Commission on Transportation (CWACT), Cascades West Transportation Options, and two Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) projects.
